Pure Xbox Game Club September 2024: Mafia & Banjo-Tooie

Want to enhance your Xbox Game Pass experience? Join the official Pure Xbox Game Club!

We can’t take any credit for this from the staff — the PX Game Club is the work of ralphdibny, Balta666, and the rest of the contributors over on the Pure Xbox forums, who have created a community that comes together monthly to play a game on Xbox Game Pass and share their experiences. Games are voted on each month by the contributors involved.

We’ve got a double bill coming up for September 2024 – you can choose between Mafia: Definitive Edition or Banjo-Tooie to play over the next month on Xbox Game Pass. The former is perhaps the most tempting, given that just now arrived at the service!

Below is the forum thread you can join (over 3,600 posts so far!):

If you’re interested in what kind of discussion is going on, here’s what some contributors had to say about last month’s Pure Xbox Game Club title: Conker’s Bad Coat Day:

“I think Rare’s other platformers, like Banjo-Kazooie, get both the characters and the gameplay right, but Conker unfortunately only gets the former right and stumbles much more in the latter. I’m glad I didn’t let the frustrating moments in the gameplay put me off playing it again though! The Game Club definitely gave me the motivation to play Conker again, and I’m so glad I didn’t give up.”

“Sorry guys, I didn’t really enjoy this one. It’s one of Rare’s weaker platformers in my opinion. The context-sensitivity system wasn’t really my thing and the crude humor lost its novelty after a while. For added authenticity, I played the Xbox remake with the Duke. Although I do have one major gripe with it, it didn’t let me flip the camera like I could on the N64, which I prefer, even in some modern games.”
