After a four-year hiatus, the iconic DJ AWARDS is back for its 23rd anniversary on October 2 at Club Chinois in Ibiza. Ahead of that highly anticipated event, the independently curated nominees can now be revealed.

Founded in 1998 by José Pascual and Lenny Krarup, the DJ AWARDS have been recognised as ‘the Oscars of electronic dance music’. Now under new ownership and with significant investment, the awards are a vital way to celebrate and support global DJ culture, recognising excellence across the industry with high-profile ceremonies that celebrate the best of the best across multiple categories.

The theme for this first edition of the DJ AWARDS in its new era is Unity, which has always been a core principle of dance music. This theme reflects the need, now greater than ever, to bring people together, to celebrate our differences, to create new bonds, both personally, musically and emotionally, between people from all backgrounds and all different areas of the music industry.

Andy Grant, the new owner of DJ AWARDS, says: “Music has power – the power to unite us, lift our spirits, give us goosebumps, instantly remind us of a long-lost memory, create an atmosphere, set a mood or even motivate change. That’s why we’ve chosen the theme Unity for the reboot of the DJ Awards 2024 with the launch of our user-generated Best Dancefloor Memory competition, where everyone from all over the world shares their best memories on Instagram, tagged @thedjawards, and our judges select someone from every corner of the world to come to Ibiza and receive a real DJ Award that they can keep on their mantelpiece forever”

As such, a diverse, inclusive and independent industry panel has been assembled to compile these nominations and ensure they are as fair and representative as possible. The categories voted on are long-standing genre cornerstones of electronic music, including House, Tech House, Drum & Bass and Techno, while the undeniably influential return of Progressive House and Trance will also be represented, as well as newer groundbreaking genres Organic House and Afro, both of which have become notable creative niches with large followings across the globe and several groundbreaking new artists leading the charge.

The biggest house sounds from international DJs will also be present, while the world’s best live acts will also be represented. There will also be a Breakthrough category, recognising the most promising new names who have made their mark since the last awards four years ago.

In addition to these categories, there will be an extensive selection of Industry Awards with

winners chosen by industry professionals from the Association For Electronic Music (AFEM). They are divided into two sections, firstly Global with Global Festival, What’s Hot Global – Outstanding Global Tour Award, Eye on…’USA’, Play It Back for the best charitable contribution or outstanding achievement within or outside the electronic music scene, and Most Memorable Dance Floor Moment. The second section focuses on the White Isle with Ibiza Track of the Summer, Ibiza Icon and Ibiza Party of the Summer.

The countdown has begun to a historic evening that will recognize the most remarkable talents, musical innovations and significant contributions to the electronic music community of recent years.
