Sexual assault complaint filed against Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly

Kochi, Sep 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) A case has been registered against Malayalam star Nivin Pauly in Oonukal in Kerala’s Ernakulam district on the basis of a complaint filed by a woman who alleged that she was sexually abused by him and others outside India.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that her promises that she would be given an opportunity to take action had not been kept.

In her complaint, she says she was sexually abused by a group of six people and that Pauly was also present. Pauly has been charged as the sixth suspect.

The complaint was first lodged with the Superintendent of Police, Rural, Ernakulam and later transferred to the local police station in the victim’s hometown. She said that after the Hema Commission report surfaced, she came to know about the many complaints that were coming up and hence decided to lodge the complaint.

The Oonukal police have registered the case and it will be handed over to a special investigation team set up by the Kerala government to investigate all cases of sexual exploitation of women working in the Malayalam film industry.

Pauly, 40, has won two Kerala State Film Awards. A software engineer by profession, he turned to films and in a career that began in 2010, he has made over 50 films, several of which have become box office hits.

Nivin turned producer of “Action Hero Biju” in 2016 under his label Pauly Jr. Pictures and it turned out to be a huge success.

Trouble has been brewing in the Malayalam film industry since the long-delayed release last month of the Hema Committee report, which examined the conditions of women working in the Malayalam film industry.

The Kerala Police have so far registered FIRs against 11 people, including nine from the film industry based on complaints by actresses. Those in the dock after the police registered FIRs include actor-turned-CPI-M legislator Mukesh Madhavan, Siddique, Jayasurya, Edavela Babu, Maniyanpilla Raju, directors Ranjith and VK Prakash and production heads Vichu and Noble. Actor Baburaj and director Tulasidas have also been named, but no FIRs have been registered against them so far.
