Watch: Aurora residents warn citizen journalist of Venezuelan gang takeover

Democrats such as Colorado Governor Jared Polis deny gang activity despite local officials raising alarms.

Colorado state and local government officials are making conflicting claims about a systematic takeover of apartment buildings in Aurora, Colorado by Venezuelan gangs.

That’s why a citizen journalist went to the scene to ask the residents of Aurora what is really happening in the area.

Several Aurora residents tell Tyler Oliveira how Venezuelan gangs, many with ties to Tren de Aragua, have stormed apartment complexes and turned them into criminal bases, while local authorities turn a blind eye.

A Venezuelan confirmed that the apartment complex is mainly inhabited by other Venezuelans and that there has been a dramatic increase in crime, but he would not give details for fear of reprisals by gangs.

“Yes, many bullets, but the point is that I can’t really talk about it because my safety is in danger. I am in danger,” he said in Spanish.

Oliveira also pointed out the presence of bullet holes in nearby vehicles and walls.

Another couple said they have been “terrorized” and believe “Denver is a target” for Venezuelans because of its central location in the country and its distance from the southern border.

The man said he wants authorities to “shut this place down.”

“Just like they did on Nome Street,” he said, referring to the Fitzsimons Place apartments that Infowars first reported last month had been taken over by Venezuelan gangs.

One of the complex’s residents, Cindy Romero, told Fox News over the weekend that she and other residents have been “abandoned” by state authorities, while they have repeatedly denied reports of the gang takeover.

Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky has also taken the lead in raising awareness about the growing problem of foreign gangs, even getting support from Mayor Mike Coffman.

But Democratic Gov. Jared Polis dismissed Jurinsky’s warnings about the gang takeover as a “figment of her imagination,” despite the emergence of several videos showing gangs storming the complexes.

“The governor has already informed the mayor that the state is prepared to support local law enforcement with assistance from state troopers and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation if needed,” Shelby Wieman, a spokesman for the Democratic governor, told the New York Post last week.

“But according to police intelligence, this alleged invasion was largely a product of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination.”

Jurinsky hit back at Polis, claiming his “weak policies” had made places like Aurora “a breeding ground for gang activity.”

“I absolutely did not make this up. I think it’s great that our governor has been so quick to say this is the real problem,” she said. “But the real problem here is his weak policies that have turned this state into a breeding ground for this gang activity.”
