23-year-old charged in death of Osage Beach police officer

A Camdenton man charged in connection with the death of an Osage Beach police officer appeared in Camden County court today. Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer, 23, was convicted of a class A felony count of aggravated fleeing or apprehension of a motor vehicle resulting in death. The charges are for events related to the death of Osage Beach police officer Phylicia Carson. Officer Carson died in the line of duty on August 31, 2024. According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, the charges are based on the new “Valentine’s Day” law that went into effect on August 28. The penalty for a class A felony is a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 30 years, or life in prison. Wehmeyer appeared in court today, September 3, to hear the charges against him. He is scheduled to return to court on Friday for a bail hearing. He is currently being held without bail.
