Police Minister Presents Plans to Tackle Extortion

CAPE TOWN – Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says police are intensifying efforts to eradicate the mafia in four provinces.

He gave a speech in parliament about his plans to tackle the rise of racketeering organizations.

There has been a sharp increase in reports of protection rackets in the country.

Mchunu says loopholes in the criminal justice system must be closed.

According to him, many of them can escape punishment because of this.

The minister also advises the police to take strict action against criminals.
