The 17-year-old student’s father, who is a police officer, is determined to file charges against the teacher of Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School.

Police Major Jiceree Basitao, head of the Inayawan police station, said charges will be filed against the teacher on Thursday, September 5, for violating Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

The other student, 14, is unsure whether to take legal action against his teacher, Basitao said.

Accompanied by their parents, the two students and their teacher competed against Dave Tumulak, captain of Basak Pardo Barangay on Tuesday, September 3.

The parents brought their children to the barangay hall after hearing about the incident. The teacher refused to talk to reporters after their meeting.

The 17-year-old student alleged that the teacher asked him to show his abs and threatened him with sitting on air if he refused to comply.

The student showed his abs, but the teacher still bit his back.

The 14-year-old student accused the teacher of sexual advances. The student said the teacher bit him on the arm after he refused to kiss him.

According to Basitao, there are witnesses and evidence that can help identify the teacher.

“There is a medical certificate, the class president and other students who were present at the incident are willing to testify,” Basitao said.

Tumulak has asked the barangay social services department to conduct a stress debriefing among the students.

Noel Auxtero, coordinator of the high school, said more complaints came in after the teacher’s actions became public.

Auxtero said the school has filed a report on the complaint with the department office for further investigation.

Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, regional director of the Department of Education of Central Visayas, said the teacher’s actions will not be tolerated.
