Case against 5 alleged extortionists postponed

DURBAN – The case against five alleged construction mafiosi involved in the disruption and commotion at a construction site in KwaZulu-Natal has been postponed until next week.

The five accused extortionists reappeared at Camperdown District Court on Wednesday to apply for bail.

However, the case was postponed due to a power outage in the courthouse.

“The matter has been remanded to September 9, 2024 for an application for bail. The suspects are accused of extortion,” said Natasha Ramkisson, spokeswoman for the KZN Public Prosecution Service (NPA).
