Former Pakistani captain Salman butt has said that all pundits who point out that their batters should have improved their strike rates and batted with more intent are ‘illiterates’ in the game. A lot of questions have been asked about Pakistan’s batters after they lost two consecutive Tests at home to Bangladesh, especially after they were outclassed by the visitors.

Butt was commenting on the question about strike rates after his team lost two Test matches at home to Bangladesh. Apart from wicketkeeper-batter Mohammed RizwanNo Pakistani batsman excelled in the two Tests.

Butt said there was little point in focusing on the number of attacks as Pakistan had already lost Tests in four days.

“The strike rate mafia and intent mafia are cricket illiterates. They have no idea about the format they are talking about. You lose in four days and come back, what are you going to do by playing fast? You have only played 46 overs,” Butt said while speaking on his YouTube channel.

“Do the greats of the game play as highlights? Do the likes of Joe Carrot“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma score runs this way,” Butt asked.

The former Pakistani cricketer said he is concerned about Pakistan’s disappointing performances in the past 10 months. Pakistan have failed to qualify for the knockouts of the 2023 ODI World Cup, the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup and have now lost a Test series at home to Bangladesh.

“Sentences like this are a wake-up call for Pakistan, or alarm bells for Pakistan, seems like an understatement. I’m just worried that these guys aren’t going to enjoy these things or get used to such defeats,” Butt said.

Bangladesh created history by registering their first-ever victory over Pakistan with a 10-wicket haul in the season opener.
