BRAZIL: Open communist, Lula’s personal lawyer among ‘judges’ who upheld X ban

Last updated on September 4, 2024

An open communist and the personal lawyer of Brazilian President Lula are among the five justices of Brazil’s Supreme Court who voted unanimously to uphold the Lula regime’s ban on X, which was ordered by leftist Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

Five members of Brazil’s 11-judge Supreme Court, including Alexandre de Moraes, voted unanimously during a virtual hearing to uphold de Moraes’ ban on X. This comes after Elon Musk and the X platform refused to cooperate with Brazil’s censorship laws that are meant to consolidate the US-backed Lula regime’s informational and ideological control over Brazil’s population.

Now that the X platform has been blocked nationwide, VPN purchases among Brazilian internet users have skyrocketed. However, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and his team aren’t so quick to do so. They say anyone attempting to use a VPN to access the X platform will be tracked down and fined $9,000 per day.

In addition to upholding the X ban, the Supreme Court panel also upheld the financial penalties, clearing the way for the imposition of fines.

While much is known in the United States and the rest of the world at this point about tyrannical judge Alexandre de Moraes, much less is known about open communist Flavio Dino and Lula lawyer Christiano Zanin, both of whom sat alongside de Moraes on the five-member virtual panel that defended the X ban and the associated free speech penalties…

Flavio Dino – An open communist

In 2006, Dino was elected as a member of the Communist Party of Brazil to the Chamber of Deputies (the Brazilian equivalent of the U.S. House of Representatives). In 2015, he became the first Communist Party governor of a Brazilian state, when he became governor of Maranhão.

In 2021, Dino changed parties and officially became a socialist. He also held a number of additional government positions before being installed by President Lula in the Brazilian Supreme Court in 2024.

Following the Supreme Court ruling, photos of Flavio Dino have surfaced on the Internet, showing him holding a fake hammer and sickle and wearing a red Maoist star hat, revealing his intense love for communism.

Cristiano Zanin – Lula’s personal lawyer

Like Flavio Dino, Cristiano Zanin has deep roots in Brazil’s left-wing political circles and is the personal lawyer of President Lula, who installed Zanin to Brazil’s Supreme Court last August.

As Lula’s personal lawyer, Zanin fought to have Lula’s previous corruption convictions overturned, removing legal obstacles to a new Lula regime (Lula was president of Brazil from 2003 to 2011 and was jailed in 2017 for money laundering and corruption).

Zanin’s appointment to the Supreme Court has been heavily criticized by Lula’s opponents, who accuse him of rewarding his lawyer for good work in one of the most powerful judicial positions in the country.
