The $500 million rich Michael Jackson made some wild accusations against his father himself

There is little debate about Michael Jackson’s status as the King of Pop, with the music icon becoming a global superstar during his career. While Jackson achieved heights of popularity that few other artists in the music industry have seen, his personal life has always been in the spotlight for a variety of reasons, most notably his relationship with his family.

During an interview, Jackson made some serious accusations against his father, Joe Jackson, who was his manager earlier in his career. However, Jackson had some shocking things to say about his father, accusing Jackson Sr. of physically and emotionally abusing him when he was younger. Here are some of the accusations Jackson made against his father during his career.

Michael Jackson admitted he was afraid of his father Joe Jackson

Michael Jackson rose to fame as a member of the Jackson 5, before having one of the most successful careers as a solo artist. Jackson won thirteen Grammy Awards and became one of the best-selling artists of all time. Despite his success, the singer was plagued by personal problems, most notably a troubled relationship with his father.

In a series of recorded conversations with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, Jackson spoke candidly about his relationship with his father, Joe Jackson, who had served as the Jackson 5’s manager and pushed his children to pursue music careers. In the interview, Jackson accused his father of being physically and emotionally abusive toward his children, he said (via Today.com).

He would throw you and hit you as hard as he could. He was very physical.

Jackson added that there was no love or affection in his father’s upbringing. He felt his father had become a money-making machine.

I am still afraid of my father. My father walked into the room — and God knows I am telling the truth — I have fainted many times in his presence.

Jackson made the above statement and admitted that he also threw up in his father’s presence. The King of Pop revealed that his father often lost his temper, which led to him hitting his children.

Furthermore, Jackson also stated that his father, while beating him and his siblings, would often break the furniture, which underscored the severity of Joe Jackson’s actions towards his children. Therefore, it is clear why Jackson admitted to being afraid of his father while growing up.

Despite his son’s accusations, Joe Jackson defended himself against the claims of physical and emotional abuse. During an interview with CNN, Jackson admitted that he was a tough taskmaster and strict with his children. However, Jackson Sr. maintained that it was for the good of his children.

I had to be like that because it was a tough time. There were a lot of gangs, you know, in the neighborhood where we lived.

In addition, Jackson’s father said that he was glad that he had been so strict with his children, because it had helped them become successful artists who were appreciated all over the world.

Speaking at the Oxford Union in March 2001, the King of Pop admitted that his father’s difficult upbringing during the Great Depression and his adult life in the working class had caused him to keep his emotions in check toward his children. As a result, it’s safe to say that despite the struggles, Jackson understood where his father was coming from.

Ultimately, it’s clear that Jackson and his father had an extremely complicated relationship. Jackson sadly passed away in 2009 at the age of 50. Meanwhile, Joe Jackson suffered from terminal pancreatic cancer in the final stages of his life, before passing away in 2018. The son and father were buried in the same cemetery, and we can only hope that they both found peace with each other in the afterlife.
