Italian-Albanian gang hit, 72kg of cocaine from Ecuador seized

A police operation in collaboration with the American DEA has taken place in Rome, where ten people have been arrested who belonged to a criminal organization involved in the distribution of narcotics, in particular cocaine.

The operation was completed with the seizure of over 72 kilos of cocaine from Ecuador at the port of Civitavecchia and the discovery of a marijuana plantation in a villa in the centre of Rome.

Furthermore, the purchase from Spain of more than 50 kilograms of hashish of the ‘pollen’ type was documented, as well as several incidents of the ‘wholesale sale’ of narcotics, more than 30 kilograms of marijuana.

The gang, made up of Albanians and Italians, was responsible for the distribution of narcotics in Rome. Firearms, including Kalashnikovs, were seized.

The operation, centered around Tor Bella Monaca, began on the morning of September 4. The arrest warrants were signed by the Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Rome district, following an investigation by the local police, with the support of the Central Service for the Investigation of Organized Crime and in collaboration with the DEA.

The gang had a significant number of ’employees’ responsible for managing the drug trafficking areas, also using methods of threat and violence against those perceived as rivals.

During the operation, police seized large-caliber weapons such as hunting rifles and Kalashnikovs.
