Facial detection technology in crime-prone areas to detect mafia movements

Nagpur: The movements of criminals on record, whose footage has already been uploaded to the software, would soon be identified, tracked and alarmed by CCTV cameras installed on the roads at 20 undisclosed locations in the city. The technology will help the police get an alert about criminals moving or being present in an area on the roads and enable them to be intercepted with the help of personnel closest to the location.
The city’s police chief, Ravinder Singal, had taken the initiative to ensure that facial recognition technology was integrated into the CCTV network system. “Soon, we will also have the license plate recognition software for integration into the CCTV system. This would help us track the number of bikes of traffic violators and other criminals using these two-wheelers. This would be in the next phase,” Singal said. tnn
