Woman accused of sexually abusing mentally disabled man in Carter County

A woman accused of sexually abusing a physically and mentally disabled man in Carter County has been charged, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said.

Selena Catherine Silver, 56, has been charged with assault on a vulnerable adult, assault by an authority figure, sexual exploitation of a vulnerable adult and stalking.

The TBI said an investigation began last month after receiving a referral from Adult Protective Services. According to the TBI, Silver, who was working as a caregiver at the time, began a sexual relationship with the victim and provided him with narcotics and other illegal drugs.

Silver was arrested Friday and booked into the Carter County Jail on $10,000 bail.
