Man charged in Westlock court with sexual acts against child

WESTLOCK – A man accused of sexually exploiting a child wants a trial with a preliminary hearing. There is a publication ban on information that could identify the victim.

He faces a total of seven charges, including sexual assault, sexual contact with a child, sexual guidance of a child, sexual exploitation, distributing sexually explicit material of a child under the age of 16 and sexual guidance of a child.

Lawyer changed

A woman who was arrested after police seized a large quantity of methamphetamine and cocaine is now awaiting trial in Drug Treatment Court and is changing lawyers.

Lana Kaye Wolfe told the Westlock Court of Justice on August 28 that she has withdrawn her legal aid attorney and has retained her public defender, David Keyes.

She is charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trade, possession of goods for the purpose of trade and possession of unstamped tobacco.

Keyes requested an extension until September 25.

Confession of guilt made

A trial scheduled for November has been canceled after Tyler Mayer pleaded guilty on August 28 to assault causing bodily injury.

A pre-sentence report was ordered and the case was adjourned until November 27 for sentencing.
