‘Liberals in theory’ who attack RFK Jr.’s wife over Trump do what even the Mafia won’t do

During Friday’s episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher responded to attacks on Cheryl Hines for failing to condemn her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., over his support for the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, former President Donald Trump, by “offensive posers” on the far left who are “liberals in theory.”

Maher said that while Hines does not support Trump, that “did not satisfy the annoying posers of the aforementioned far left wing.”

He also criticized those who think Hines “should sacrifice her marriage so you can read something on Twitter that you approve of. You want to know why I hate the left more than I used to? It’s this kind of shit. There’s an ugliness that they never had before. The liberals I grew up with aren’t like that. Going after women? Not even the Mafia does that. There are a lot of people today that I call liberals in theory. In theory, they hate bullying … in practice, their attitude is that it’s not bullying if I stick your head in the toilet.”

Maher continued: “And that’s what’s so painful about this, it’s exactly what Barack Obama just told the Democrats not to do at their convention. … Clinton had the same message. … And that’s the thing, the real politicians of the Democratic Party are generally a pretty healthy bunch of people. The worst of them are miles better than the worst of the Republicans. The Democratic politicians are not the ones who are calling for defunding the police and all this crazy stuff, but the kind of people who, the kind of people who are always on social media screaming, yeah, that’s what gives (a lot of people) the shivers when they hear ‘liberal.’ And look, I get it, Trump is horrible. … You don’t like Trump? Then don’t be like him.”
