Peter Obi condemns Yobe murder

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has condemned the repeated terrorist attack in Mafia Village, Tanrmuwa Local Government of Yobe State.

Obi said the repeated killings in Mafia Village, following an earlier attack that killed 87 residents of the state last week, are a stark reminder of the seriousness of the security situation in the country.

Obi stated this in a statement on Saturday, reminding Nigerians and the Federal Government that the country’s current security architecture has failed.

He stressed that the Federal Government must take bold steps and declare war on insecurity before it ravages the entire country.

He wrote:Once again I am deeply saddened by yet another devastating news of the horrific murder of several innocent people in Mafia Village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State. This horrific act of violence is a stark reminder of the gravity of our security situation and the urgent need for a paradigm shift in our approach to the challenge.

“The ruthless killings, maiming and displacement of innocent Nigerians are a clear indication that our current security architecture is failing. We must acknowledge this reality and take bold steps, as I have always maintained, by declaring war on insecurity before it consumes us completely.”
