Tinubu must admit that the current security architecture is failing – Peter Obi

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, LP, Mr Peter Obi, said the ruthless killings, maimings and displacement of innocent Nigerians is a clear sign that the country’s current security architecture is failing.

Obi urged the Nigerian government to acknowledge the reality and take bold steps by declaring war on insecurity before it completely devastates the country.

The statement follows the gruesome killing of several people in a mafia village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Obi said in a message on his X-name on Saturday that the horrific act of violence is a stark reminder of the seriousness of the security situation in the country.

He said: “I am once again deeply saddened by the horrific news of the gruesome killing of several innocent people in Mafia Village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.

“This horrific act of violence is a painful reminder of the gravity of our security situation and the urgent need for a paradigm shift in our approach to the challenge.

“The ruthless killings, maimings and displacement of innocent Nigerians are a clear sign that our current security architecture is failing.

“We must acknowledge this reality and take bold steps, as I have always maintained, by declaring war on insecurity before it consumes us completely.”
