Peter Obi condemns repeated terrorist attacks in Yobe, calls for strong action

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obihas expressed sorrow over the repeated terrorist attacks in Mafia Village, Yobe State.

The former governor of Anambra state described the attacks, which killed 87 residents last week, as a painful reminder of the seriousness of the security situation in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Obi stressed that the current security architecture is deficient and urged the federal government to take strong steps to address the challenge.

He reiterated his call for a paradigm shift in approach and declared war on insecurity, warning that insecurity could devastate the country if left unchecked.

He said: “I am once again saddened by the devastating news of the gruesome killing of several innocent people in Mafia Village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of ​​Yobe State.

“This horrific act of violence is a painful reminder of the gravity of our security situation and the urgent need for a paradigm shift in our approach to the challenge.

“The ruthless killings, maimings and displacement of innocent Nigerians are a clear sign that our current security architecture is failing.

“We must acknowledge this reality and take bold steps, as I have always maintained, by declaring war on insecurity before it consumes us completely.”
