Redding man arrested for attempting to meet minor for sex

A Redding man was arrested Sunday after an undercover officer discovered he was trying to arrange to meet a minor for sex.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) says that on July 18, 2024, they received a tip about a 30-year-old man, later identified as Kodi Knox, who was attempting to arrange a meeting with an underage girl for sex. An undercover decoy posed as a 13-year-old girl on an online platform and chatted with Knox, when he began sending explicit messages to the decoy via text message.

After investigating, officers discovered that Knox was messaging the undercover officer to arrange for her to meet him for sexual relations.

On August 31, 2024, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Knox. On Sunday, September 8, Shasta County deputies, along with members of the Shasta County Interagency Narcotics Task Force (SINTF), the Major Crimes Unit, and the Sheriff’s Office’s AB109/SAFE team, went to Knox’s home and served a search warrant and an arrest warrant.

While searching his home, officers found additional evidence indicating that Knox had child pornography on his electronic devices.

Knox was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for sending harmful material to a minor, arranging to meet a minor for indecent purposes, communicating with a minor for indecent purposes, sexual exploitation of a child, and possession of child sexual abuse material.
