Speaking at London’s Peacock Theatre on the first night of his book tour, he recounted the day he married his partner Jonathan McLeod.

Graham said: “I don’t talk much about my private life, but the big headline is that I’m now a married man.

“I’m surprised. I haven’t seen that happen in my lifetime. I’m glad I waited. It’s quite Nice to get married at the stage I am in now.

“There are advantages, like the vows. At my age, ’till death do us part’ is more attainable. I have things in my fridge that will last longer than me.”

They married in Bandon, West Cork, where Graham grew up. His fame and celebrity connections sent the rumour mill into overdrive.

He said, “We got married, but every bastard in Bandon knew.

“You can imagine the rumour mill. I talk to celebrities for a living, but I know practically none. People in Bantry said they saw Lady Gaga at Cork Airport, Elton John was seen in the local pub.

“Imagine you’re the man and someone mistakes you for Elton John. That’s a cruel day.”

If we want to see Graham’s famous friends, all we have to do is watch BBC One over the next few weeks.

He said: “We’re back with the talk show at the end of the month. I’m not going to say who the guests are because that would spoil it, but we’ve got some big stars.”

AJ Odudu may be hosting a new ITV series about clothes, but she’s had her own fashion woes too.

The TV star, who co-presents M&S: Dress The Nation with Vernon Kay, in which aspiring designers compete for retail contracts, admits she has sometimes put herself through hell by wearing clothes that are too tight.

AJ said: “Red carpets are fashion hell for me, but the outfits have me in a stranglehold.

“I insist on wearing the sample size and the material might scratch me, but as long as I look snapped, that’s the most important thing. It’s a no pain, no gain policy.

“I went to a premiere and I got a two-piece, which was yellow and checkered. It had a Clueless meets Bananaman vibe. What did I think?”

  • M&S: Dress The Nation airs from September 17 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
