Two teens dead after crash on Orangeburg County freeway

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WOLO) – Two teenagers have died after a crash on an Orangeburg County freeway, the highway patrol said.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a freight carrier collided with an SUV on Saturday afternoon, September 7.

The collision occurred on U.S. Highway 601 near Scenic Drive, about five miles north of Orangeburg, around 4:20 p.m.

According to SCHP, a 2024 cargo truck pulling a semi-trailer was traveling north on U.S. Highway 601 when a 2020 Kawasaki ATV attempted to cross the highway and was struck by the truck.

The driver and passenger of the ATV, both teenagers, were pronounced dead at the scene.
