Quincy Police Arrest Man in Red Kia Soul for Child Abuse

Quincy police continue to investigate inappropriate sexual conduct related to the previously announced red Kia Soul.

Thanks to the Flock ALPR system, investigators were able to identify the license plate and possible driver of the vehicle today.

While detectives were monitoring the vehicle near Flock, it appeared the vehicle was driving back to Quincy from Springfield.

The Flock system was able to alert investigators when the vehicle arrived in Quincy.

At 1:15 p.m., a vehicle stop was conducted at the intersection of 9th and Broadway.

The driver, James Clary, 42, of Ashland, IL, was arrested at that time.

He was questioned and subsequently booked into the Adams County Jail on two separate counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of harmful material.

Clary is a registered sex offender with an address in Ashland, IL and is listed as in compliance.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 10. Pending further investigation, additional charges are possible.
