RTC Orders Arrest of Quiboloy and 4 Co-Defendants in Quezon City Jail

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) has ordered the detention of Apollo C. Quiboloy, founder of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), and his co-accused in the Quezon City Jail.

Judge Noel L. Parel of RTC Branch 106 on September 9, 2024 ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to “transfer and detain the two suspects Apollo C. Quiboloy and Cresente Canada at the New Quezon City Jail – Payatas Road, Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

The three other co-defendants – Jackielyn W. Roy, Ingrid C. Canada and Sylvia Cemanes – were lodged in the women’s dormitory of the Quezon City Jail in Camp Karingal in Diliman, also in Quezon City.

Judge Parel ordered the PNP to report all suspects during their arraignment on September 13 at 8:30 a.m.

Following their arrest last Sunday, September 8, in Davao City, Quiboloy and his co-defendants were detained at the PNP Detention Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Quiboloy and his co-defendants were charged with violating Section 10 (a) of Republic Act No. 7610, the Act for the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination.

The case involved alleged sexual abuse of a 17-year-old girl in 2011.

The case was initially filed with the Davao City RTC, but the Supreme Court (SC), based on a petition filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ), transferred the case to the QC RTC.

Quiboloy also has a qualified non-bailable human trafficking case pending before the Pasig City RTC, which has issued an arrest warrant.
