Justice Department asks court to allow Quiboloy’s detention in PNP detention center

The Department of Justice (DOJ) will request the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) to order the continued detention of Apollo C. Quiboloy, founder of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Detention Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

“We are in discussions with prosecutors to propose that it would be more difficult for the court to transfer him to Pasig when there is a trial,” Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony D. Fadullon, Chief Public Prosecutor (OIC), said during a press conference on Wednesday, September 11.

Quiboloy is currently being held at the PNP Detention Center after his arrest in Davao City over the weekend.

Fadullon said QC has requested RTC Branch 106 to remand Quiboloy in Quezon City Jail.

Fadullon recalled that Quiboloy is before Pasig City RTC Branch 159 in a non-bailable case involving aggravated trafficking in persons, in violation of Section (a) of Republic Act (RA) 9208, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.

At the Quezon City RTC, Quiboloy was charged with child abuse under Section 10(a) of RA 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

The cases pending before the two courts concerned the alleged sexual abuse and human trafficking committed against a 17-year-old girl in 2011.
