Ashland man arrested as suspect in Quincy incident involving inappropriate sexual conduct involving children – WLDS

An Ashland man is in custody in Quincy for inappropriate sexual conduct with children.

Quincy police arrested 42-year-old James T. Clary on Monday on suspicion of two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of distribution of harmful material.

According to Muddy River News, Quincy Police Department detectives used the Flock Camera system to identify Clary as the suspected male driver of a red Kia Soul, in connection with a series of reports of a man exposing his genitals in front of minors and showing them inappropriate photos on his phone at various locations around Quincy, dating back to August 21.st.

Quincy police were able to determine Monday afternoon that the vehicle was traveling from Springfield to Quincy. Clary was arrested during a traffic stop at the corner of Ninth and Broadway by Quincy police.

Clary is a registered sex offender with convictions in Marion County. The Illinois State Police sex offender registry lists Clary as having an address in Ashland and he is listed as in compliance.

He is scheduled to appear in Adams County Superior Court today.
