Hickory sex offender convicted of sexual exploitation of minor

HICKORY, NC – A 30-year-old Hickory man has been sentenced to six to 23 years in prison for three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The offenses spanned from Nov. 1, 2023, to April 20, 2024, involving Shawn Fox and a 13-year-old victim. A predatory watchdog agency turned over text messages, videos and images to the sheriff’s office, where an investigation was conducted.

Images of child pornography were found on Fox’s phone, with victims aged one, three and thirteen. Fox had given permission for detectives to search the phone.

Fox is a registered sex offender who was previously convicted of a felony sexual abuse charge in Caswell County. He was released from prison in January 2023.
