NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Top law enforcement officials attending Interpol’s 26th Regional Conference on the Americas say transnational organized crime and the associated increase in violence pose a significant threat.

It is one of many topics up for discussion over the next 3 days. They are also expected to discuss human trafficking, drug trafficking, arms trafficking and cybercrime during their meetings.

The conference, held at the Atlantis Resort, is attended by senior law enforcement officials from 35 countries in the region and the executive leadership of the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

According to the chairman of Interpol, the region is high on the agenda.

But why is this important to us? Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander says regional partnerships can help solve the case of local crimes.

Not only information is important, sharing resources and manpower is also something the commissioner fully supports.
