York Region hockey coach convicted of sexually harassing young student


A former York Region teacher and hockey coach has been convicted in court of sexually abusing a child.

Investigators believe there are more victims.

According to police, the investigation into the case started in February 2022.

They say the man sexually abused a young boy during private hockey lessons from 2016 to 2022. They allege the boy was eight years old when the abuse began.

On September 6, 2024, Kelvin Cheuk-Ho Lee (pictured), 40, was convicted of two counts of sexual harassment of a child under 16. He is expected to be sentenced in November.

In 2022, he was released on bail on condition that he have no contact with children.

According to the police, he has been a coach of hockey teams in the province for many years.

Previously, he was a teacher at the York Regional District School Board, where he was an athletic coach.

He previously served as Camp Director at Haliburton Hockey Haven and Head Tennis Professional at Markham Tennis Club.
