America First Legal Launches Investigation into Biden-Harris Administration’s Mismanagement of Migrant Gangs

EXCLUSIVE: America First Legal (AFL), a nonprofit organization, launched an investigation into the Biden-Harris administration on Thursday in response to “increasing violent activity by illegal gangs” spreading across parts of Colorado and the Midwest.

America First Legal launched investigations into the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

America First Legal’s FOIA requests follow the arrest of 10 Tren de Aragua gang members in Aurora, Colorado, after surveillance footage of a seized apartment building went viral late last month.

In their investigative report, the AFL cited the “recklessness” of the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration policies, saying, “These gang members wouldn’t be here if we had a secure southern border.”

“The Biden-Harris administration’s deliberate decision to open our borders to the world has allowed violent Venezuelan gangs to operate unchecked in American communities,” said Gene Hamilton, executive director of America First Legal.

“The crimes committed by these aliens are, by definition, preventable, but this administration has decided to ignore public safety and prioritize the importation of hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens.”

The transnational prison gang Tren de Aragua, based in Venezuela, has been linked to human trafficking, illegal drug trafficking and threatening people with weapons. The gang is believed to have around 5,000 members.

America First Legal’s investigations focus on Aurora, Colorado and parts of Illinois and Wisconsin where TdA activity has been documented.

Their Freedom of Information Act requests are dated January 21, 2021, the first day of the presidency of Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris, who was originally touted as the Biden administration’s “border czar,” has stepped down from that role and is now the Democratic nominee.

“If Border Czar Harris was serious about eliminating the threat of foreign gang activity in the United States, she would secure the border and deport illegal aliens from the United States. It’s that simple,” said Gene Hamilton, executive director of America First Legal.

In February 2021, Kamala Harris was appointed by Joe Biden to lead the “Root Causes Strategy,” which she said was aimed at addressing why people in Central American countries are forced to flee to the United States. As recently as March of this year, the White House was behind the program and Harris’ leadership of it.

According to the House Committee on Homeland Security, there have been 9.5 million encounters with illegal aliens since President Biden took office in 2021. About 1.7 million of those have been “gotaways,” or people who are in the United States illegally.

Of the documented Tren de Aragua gang members arrested in Aurora, two have been released despite detainer requests from Colorado Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Tren de Aragua gang activity has also been under scrutiny recently in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin: 26-year-old Alejandro Jose Coronel Zarate was arrested last week on domestic violence charges. He was caught with false immigration documents and a forged U.S. Social Security card.
