Committee on Human Rights and Civil Integration draws up agreement on law enforcement cooperation between Georgia and Belgium

The Commission on Human Rights and Civil Integration discussed the agreement on “Law enforcement cooperation between Georgia and the Kingdom of Belgium”, which the Government of Georgia has submitted for ratification.

According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, the agreement is of great importance as it strengthens cooperation between Georgia and the Kingdom of Belgium in the field of law enforcement in issues such as terrorism, organised crime, crimes aimed at harming the life and health of a person, crimes related to the production and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors, illegal smuggling of migrants across borders, trafficking in human beings and sexual exploitation of children; knowingly and wilfully profiting from, acquiring, possessing or selling goods obtained through criminal activities; theft, illicit preparation, circulation and trafficking in weapons, ammunition, explosives, dual-use goods and technologies, chemical, radiological, nuclear materials and other dangerous substances; forgery of money and other means of payment, securities and financial documents, their circulation and their use as authentic; forgery of any official document, their circulation as authentic, money laundering, corruption and cybercrime.

Aleksandre Darakhvelidze also noted that the agreement provides for cooperation regarding wanted, missing and lost persons and objects.

The Commission agreed to ratify the document.
