NPA rebel tagged as Region 2’s most wanted captured

CAMP ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Police arrested a New People’s Army rebel considered the most wanted person in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) during a confrontation in Peñablanca, Cagayan on Thursday, September 12.

Police Brigadier General Christopher C. Birung, chief of the Regional Police Station 2, identified the suspect as Carding, 27, who had an arrest warrant for violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 (Republic Act No. 1147) and two counts of attempted murder.

Birung referred to Carding’s arrest.

“I applaud the courage and professionalism shown by our police and military units in carrying out this successful operation. The arrest of alias Carding is an example of our unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and order in our communities and ensuring that those who threaten the security of our country are brought to justice. Let this serve as a warning to all those engaged in violent and terrorist acts that we will continue to pursue and dismantle such networks with determination,” Birung said.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, September 11, police arrested 11 wanted individuals in Region 2.

According to Birung, the suspects could be prosecuted for murder, estafa, robbery, perjury, aggravated robbery, rape, Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, RA 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act, RA 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, and RA 11332, the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

They are in the hands of arrest units for documentation and proper handling.

Birung commended the operational units for their performance and thanked the community for their cooperation and support for a peaceful Cagayan Valley.
