Why OMERTA’s open-world mafia game is becoming a GTA competitor – Gamezebo

While the world has been waiting an absurdly long time for a brand new Grand Theft Auto (11 years and counting!), we’re here to announce that the wait has come to an unforgiving end. And it’s not because Rockstar is putting their foot down. No, it’s thanks to OMERTA, the upcoming open-world crime simulator with GTA and Saints Row-style gameplay, minus the wait.

OMERTA draws from games like GTA and Saints Row to bring you one of the biggest open world crime simulators to date. And it’s not just games that it takes inspiration from, either: the team behind the game has done extensive research into real-world cartels and the mafia to deliver an authentic crime experience, along with some unique supernatural and sci-fi twists. So if your interest in crime drama extends beyond just games, you’ll find plenty to like here.

If you’ve played any of the games it draws inspiration from, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting into. It all starts with a single-player story mode where you take on the role of a henchman, tasked with completing missions to take over the cartel. Along the way, you’ll meet a variety of unique characters and, more importantly, discover where it all takes place.

Brookton: The crime-ridden megalopolis of OMERTA Game

Brookton is absolutely huge and riddled with crime. What do you expect when there are five different cartels operating in one location? Each has its own personality, as well as specialties, favored businesses, and appearance. There is the OMERTA, Full Metal, Menagerie, Coven, and Silk Route. You can check them out in the OMERTA White Paperand see if you can figure out what inspired them.

When you’re not participating in story missions or generally making a fool of yourself, you can freely explore the city and collect rewards. That includes weapons, armor, drugs, and even secret artifacts. The best part? You can take all of this into the online component, where even more rewards lurk for those willing to take the time to find them.

Because yes – OMERTA has its own GTA Online, which is probably where the vast majority of you will spend most of your time. There’s just so much to do, and you can do it all with your friends – or your enemies. Like playing with friends? Then join in on PvE activities. Or, if you want to duke it out with your enemies, just go for a PvP format. There’s something for everyone here, no matter how you like to play.

It contains many mini games

There are a ton of mini-games or side quests to take part in, including street racing, bounty hunting, cartel feuds, sabotage and underground fight clubs. And then there’s the other side of the game, which is far more creative. You can take part in drug trials, perform mysterious rituals, hunt down hideous creatures or accompany a unique character (Urban Myth Joe) as they uncover conspiracy theories. There’s a lot going on in OMERTA, and it’s safe to say you won’t find much of it in GTA or Saints Row.

Naturally, you’ll spend most of your time competing with other players for ownership of Brookton’s various businesses. This is how you progress through the game, earning passive income that you spend on better equipment. In fact, this side of the game takes a lot of inspiration from mafia games, rather than GTA. It even expands on them by giving you more options to organize your cartel, own and manage businesses, and even do a bit of diplomacy if things go wrong.

The GTA gameplay has been greatly expanded

Gameplay-wise, you can use stealth to sneak into their base and steal stuff, or simply sabotage their businesses to weaken them. So while it clearly takes a lot of inspiration from GTA, it expands on the formula in a few key ways. Most importantly, it puts you in the shoes of a cartel or mafia member.

But let’s move on to the most exciting feature of OMERTA: earning real, real money in the form of the native OMERTA tokens (ticker to be announced in the future) just by playing. Sure, it’s great to play a game just to relax and have fun, but it would be nice if all those hours you put into it resulted in some money in your pocket. The OMERTA game understands that and rewards you in OMERTA tokens for playing it.

This is thanks to the integration of Blockchain and NFT, where you buy a ‘stake’ in an in-game business. Every time a player interacts with your business – be it a casino, car dealership, nightclub, brothel, etc. – you earn passive income. This adds a lot of realism to the game, making it feel much more like real-life crime. You actually own these parts of the game, because that’s how NFTs work. Just like physical goods, there are only so many of them.

It’s not just companies you can own. If you develop your own weapon or technology, for example, or earn a reward specific to a certain cartel, that’s yours. The same goes for rare items you can acquire, or, er, steal. Many of these in-game items are NFTs, so they’re unique to you and your own character.
