Problems at Ford Amphitheater resemble missteps at Fiddlers Green

Ford Amphitheater Trouble Looks Like Fiddler’s Green

Re: “Tensions Still High at Ford Amphitheater,” news report from September 6

Contrary to what the article claims, the new Ford Amphitheater in Colorado Springs is an exact replica of the introduction of Fiddler’s Green into an existing neighborhood in the late 1980s.

At the time, Fiddler’s Green was in unincorporated Arapahoe County. Homeowners were assured that the amphitheater would cause little to no nuisance. County commissioners held a public hearing on the proposed amphitheater, and I listened as developers promised it would be used for acts like Peter, Paul and Mary and the Denver Symphony.

Once it was built, it didn’t take long before we had to deal with the sound of heavy metal bands blowing us out of our homes and concertgoers urinating on our lawns. The county commissioners were inundated with hundreds and hundreds of complaints from angry homeowners, but there wasn’t much they could do. If I recall correctly, it took about 10 years for additional soundproofing to be installed and a time limit put on concert performances. All I can say to those affected by the Ford Amphitheater is good luck, you’re going to need it.

Venezuelan Gang Shows Gun Laws Don’t Work

In the debate over the presence of Venezuelan gangs in Aurora, no one — including Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman, Aurora Interim Police Chief Heather Morris, or Denver Mayor Mike Johnston — expressed any concern about the following: How were those gang members getting their hands on so many guns? The obvious point is that Colorado’s decade of “common sense” gun control has proven ineffective in preventing criminal “newcomers” from arming themselves with an arsenal of semi-automatic weapons.

Is Trump a doer or a talker?

While watching the most recent presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes from Amy Poehler (comedian):

“I want to be around people who are doing things. I don’t want to be around people who are judging or… talking about what people are doing anymore.”

Trump is planning to do things that are important to me and should be important to everyone in the United States. Behind Trump are RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Calley Means, Nicole Shanahan, and a movement called MAHA (Make American Healthy Again). Together, they can’t wait to get into the White House to tackle our real problems: the chronic disease epidemic, perpetual wars, and censorship. Behind Vice President Kamala Harris are Big Pharma, Big Tech, Big Ag, and the military-industrial complex. The very players who are causing these problems.

The media continues to hide the truth and distort the stories. These three issues must be addressed now.

During the recent debate, Donald Trump responded that “people come to my rallies because they like what I have to say.” That may be true, but not for the reason he thinks.

After watching Trump perform at countless rallies over the past 8 years, I would argue that he provides an entertainment experience similar to watching Bill Burr, Sam Kinison, or Andrew “Dice” Clay. A Trump rally is short on ideas and proposals, and long on mockery, innuendo, fantastic stories, lies galore, and bizarre ideas wrapped in derogatory “humor” that elicits eye-rolling responses like “did he just say what I thought he said?”
