More victims come forward after Pocatello MMA coach is charged with alleged sexual contact with minors

SHELLEY — After being charged in April with alleged sexual contact with a minor, a Pocatello man now faces two additional cases with similar allegations after more victims came forward.

In April, Maxie Riddle, 37, was charged in Bonneville County with two counts of indecent assault on a child under 16. He also has been charged in two counts in Bingham County.

In his second case, he is charged with two counts of indecent assault on a child under 16, sexual exploitation of a child and destruction or concealment of evidence.

In the third case, he is charged with penetration with a foreign object.

New allegations

According to court documents, a second victim came forward with allegations of sexual abuse by Riddle.

The victim reported to a Shelley police officer that Riddle had raped her in his Shelley apartment in November 2018. She was 15 at the time and Riddle was 31.

The victim stated that the two had sex “almost every day until approximately March 15,” according to police records.

Court documents show Riddle also received multiple nude photos and images of the victim.

On May 16, 2019, Riddle reportedly admitted to having sexual contact with the victim on multiple occasions. It is unclear why he was not charged at the time, but EastIdahoNews.com has reached out to Bingham County Prosecutor Ryan Jolley for clarification.

Authorities subsequently executed a search warrant at Riddle’s home and seized his electronic devices, which reportedly contained “numerous” sexually exploitative images of the victim.

On the day of the first rape, Riddle was wearing an “orange skin-tight bodysuit or morph suit” prior to the rape, according to the victim.

During the search, officers looked for the morph suit but did not find it.

According to police reports, on April 17, 2024, an Idaho Falls Police Department detective investigating Riddle for alleged crimes in Idaho Falls contacted the Shelley police officer working on Riddle’s case and told him that he had heard from a witness that Riddle had thrown away an orange morph suit because “the police were looking for it.”

If convicted of the charges, Riddle could face life in prison. He is scheduled to appear in Bingham County District Court on October 9 for a arraignment.

Further details

In the third case involving Riddle, a third victim came forward to an Idaho Falls police detective on May 1, 2024, saying she had also been sexually abused by Riddle in 2018, court documents show.

According to the victim, she met Riddle when she was working at Claire’s and he was shopping in the store.

Court records show that Riddle “returned to Claire’s multiple times and spoke with (the victim).” The victim was 17 years old at the time.

Riddle told the victim he was a boxing instructor and the two decided he would train her.

The victim says Riddle taught her “boxing and striking” at the Idaho Falls YMCA in the summer of 2018. Toward the end of the summer, he allegedly invited the victim to his apartment in Shelley to train for boxing in his garage.

According to court documents, Riddle offered the victim water, so the two went inside. Once inside, Riddle allegedly “pushed” the victim “against a wall” and sexually assaulted her while she repeatedly asked him to stop.

Riddle was interviewed about these allegations while incarcerated in the Bonneville County Jail. He reportedly denied the allegations, saying, “I know if I wanted to be a powerful person, I really could be.”

If found guilty of these charges, Riddle could face up to life in prison.

He is expected to appear in District Court on October 9 at the same time as his second case.

Although Riddle has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean that he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
