Dutch police dismantle call center scammers, arrest four

Four people have been arrested in connection with the discovery of a telephone conversation center where criminal gangs could make calls in an attempt to to defraud people and take their money and other valuables.

The raid on the building in Mijdrecht, Utrecht province, took place on July 12, but has only been just now made public. Police also seized laptops, telephones and a gun.

Police found two studios in the space plus scripts that the scammers could use while calling. The four men arrested all to come from the same environment and were 19, 22, 25 years old And 27.

Police suspect the gang has defrauded at least 45 people, but will not say how much money is involved.

It was also not mentioned whether the gang posed as police officers or whether some other form of fraud was involved.

So far this year, police have received more than 3,400 reports of people posing as police officers to trick their victims into handing over money and jewelry. And other valuables. In 2023, there were a total of 500 such reports.

They also arrested 167 people in connection with similar disadvantages.
