Former local elementary school employee formally charged

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A former elementary school teacher has been formally charged in court after being accused of sexually abusing a child.

Kacee Figueroa, 33, pleaded not guilty to seven felonies, including criminal sexual conduct and exploitation of a minor.

According to police, she sexually abused a 14-year-old boy and sent him explicit videos and photos.

The Crane Elementary School District confirmed that Figueroa was a teaching assistant at Pueblo Elementary School, but that she will not be returning to the school. The district also said that the victim was not a student at the school.

Figueroa is being held in the Yuma County Jail on $150,000 bail. She will be back in court next month for a hearing on the terms of her release.
