Complex and other publications reported that rapper PeeWee Longway, the real-life Quincy Williams, was among those arrested in connection with the operation. However, Vice notes that his name was not included in the indictment press release. So far, information about his charges and alleged involvement remains scarce.

A two-year study revealed

The drug raid was part of a long-running investigation that began two years ago under the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, they explained during a press conference. The operation, “Sweet Silence,” was designed to dismantle criminal street gangs and further disrupt large-scale drug trafficking in the Columbus area. According to Sheriff Greg Countryman, the Zohannons and Crips gangs were the primary targets of the raid, with authorities determined to break their control over local drug markets. Countryman further stressed that this is just the beginning, saying, “Our work is not done yet,” as the investigation is expected to result in more arrests.

Massive law enforcement presence

Early Thursday morning, more than 250 agents, including seven FBI SWAT teams, descended on Columbus in a coordinated effort to take out high-profile targets. The sheer scale of the operation underscores the severity of the drug problem plaguing the city. However, suspects who were considered armed and dangerous were apprehended. Authorities believed this was a major victory in the fight against violent crime in the area. Additionally, local law enforcement worked with federal partners to ensure the operation was executed properly.

More than $280 million in drugs and firearms seized

The raid resulted in the seizure of a staggering $280 million worth of drugs, firearms and cash. Authorities revealed the extensive haul during a press conference, with a detailed breakdown of the seized items:

  • 155 firearms
  • $273,433 in US dollars
  • 496 pounds of methamphetamine (valued at $22.4 million)
  • 57.21 kilos of cocaine (valued at $5.7 million)
  • 7.1 kilos of fentanyl (value $707,273)
  • 55,248 pounds of marijuana (worth $250 million)
  • 1.3 kilos of heroin (valued at $130,859)
  • 5.9 pounds GHB (worth $267,152)
  • 755.8 grams of mushrooms (worth $15,116)

A significant portion of the marijuana is believed to have come from illegal grow operations in California, a finding that authorities say illustrates the wide reach of the drug network.

Fake news about PeeWee Longway’s health

Interestingly, just days before his arrest, rumors circulated online that Longway was in the hospital due to a drug overdose, following the death of fellow rapper Rich Homie Quan from an apparent overdose. The false reports were quickly debunked when Longway confirmed on Instagram that he was in good health. However, these events coincided with his involvement in the drug bust, further complicating the narrative surrounding his recent activities. “I’m feeling great and have been praying a lot and am (too) healthy to be in the hospital,” he wrote on his Instagram Story, according to AllHipHop.
