The Excise and Taxation Department in Islamabad has launched new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve service delivery and combat agent mafia. The updated process for purchasing and registering vehicles is aimed at making it easier for citizens.

According to the new guidelines, vehicle owners can authorize someone else to register or transfer their vehicle using an authorization letter or via biometric verification. This ensures security and convenience. Biometric verification is also required for anyone collecting the registration card on behalf of the owner.

To improve accessibility, the Excise Department has introduced a Doorstep Policy, which allows vehicle registration and transfer services to be performed at home or at the office. Mobile vans are also deployed at key locations such as markets and parks for on-the-spot registration services.

Citizens can now apply online for vehicle registration and need to apply for a challan ticket to understand all the related government charges. For additional support, a helpline is available at 051-111-383-383 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays.

Director of Excise Bilal Azam encourages citizens to make use of these new facilities for smoother registration.
