Police raid GISB properties in Rawang amid ongoing investigation

PETALING JAYA: Bukit Aman carried out inspections at five double-storey houses in Bandar Tasik Puteri, Rawang, which are believed to be homes of members of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB).

According to The Star, the operation began at 5:30 a.m. and was codenamed Ops Global, and involved more than 50 police officers and Social Services officials.

All of the homes inspected in the gated community were found abandoned. It is believed that they had been abandoned prior to the inspection.

In one house, probably a nursing home for at least 20 children, there were bags full of clothes and children’s bicycles on the veranda.

Meanwhile, the New Straits Times reported that a business precinct largely owned by GISB in Bandar Country Homes, also in Rawang, was also raided by Selangor police.

Several businesses run by GISB were inspected, including restaurants, a car garage, a supermarket, a bakery, a hotel and a boutique.

The 6.30am operation involved 50 officers and 200 personnel from the Selangor Police and the Federal Reserve Unit, with support from the Selangor Islamic Religious Department and the Selayang City Council.

These raids followed the arrest of 19 people, including the CEO of GISB, in Kuala Lumpur on September 19. All suspects were held until September 25.

Police also recorded statements from 740 individuals and froze 96 bank accounts containing RM581,552 worth of GISB-related funds.

On September 11, police rescued 402 children from 20 nursing homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan after reports of abuse, exploitation and sexual abuse.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 171 suspects, including a teacher and dormitory janitors.
