Senior Data Management Assistant

Organizational structure and working relationships
The role is normally supervised by a senior staff member who will provide regular guidance and support to the Senior Data Management Assistant. Depending on the nature of the task/assignment, he/she will work independently on routine tasks, while following the supervisor’s instructions for more complex issues. The role does not have a supervisory role.
Contacts are mainly with colleagues at the same workplace to exchange information and discuss work plans. External contacts are not frequent. At the field locations, the officer, under the supervision of the manager, can play a liaison role with national and local authorities for the collection and exchange of data.

All UNHCR staff are responsible for carrying out their duties as set out in their job description. Duties
– Enter data primarily relating to asylum seekers, refugees and other persons relevant to UNHCR into the computer database.
– Prepare reports and project documents by providing information, preparing tables, and drafting routine correspondence and reports.
– Assist in collecting data and interpreting the statistics for various reports.
– If requested, assist in developing forms for data collection and analysis.
– Act as an interpreter in the exchange of routine information and translate routine documents and correspondence as necessary.
– You may be required to collect GIS data, update maps, and conduct field trips to project sites.
– Determine what data is stored in the database.
– Decide on appropriate resolutions to incidents and escalate issues to the supervisor if the incident cannot be resolved within the employee’s area of ​​responsibility.

– Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities that impact objectives in the area of ​​responsibility. Ensure risk-based decision-making in the functional area. Raise risks, issues and concerns with a supervisor or relevant functional colleague(s).
– Perform other related tasks as required.
