BERNAMA – KPT ready to assist police in GISBH investigation

LUMUT, Sep 21 (Bernama) – The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) will fully cooperate with police investigations into whether lecturers or students from higher education institutions (IPT) are involved in teaching at GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH).

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said this was to ensure that the IPT would be free from any form of Dakyah introduced by GISBH.

“The case is under the supervision of the police, who have formed a special task force to investigate the matter. The investigation will be thorough and everyone, irrespective of whether he is a student or a university lecturer. That means the measures taken are comprehensive,” he said after attending a presentation ceremony for student loans of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) here, today.

He said this when asked about the ministry’s action when teachers and students are involved in GISBH.

During an Op Global raid on September 11, police rescued 402 children and teenagers from 20 charities linked to GISBH in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, suspected of being victims of labor and sexual exploitation, mainly children.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said today that the latest number of arrests in connection with the GISBH raid stood at 200 people.
