Protect GISB companies from hasty, unjust actions: Takiyuddin

KUALA LUMPUR – The positive aspects of Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings (GISB), including its extensive business network, must be protected from hasty and unfair actions, said Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, secretary-general of PAS.

According to Takiyuddin, the group must be protected from actions that may arise from impulsive feelings, prejudices, business rivalries or certain political agendas that seek to exploit the situation.

Takiyuddin did not rule out strict measures against those found guilty, but said the willingness to punish should not have a negative impact on the group as a whole, including innocent members or legitimate, useful aspects of GISB’s activities.

“PAS welcomes transparent, detailed and professional investigations into various allegations against GISB, in accordance with applicable laws, whether related to religious beliefs, business practices, sexual misconduct, abuse, criminal activity or other issues.

“Given the negative campaigns and stories circulating around the group, particularly those widespread on social media, which require swift and strong measures, PAS urges that all steps be taken with caution and precision.

“With this we want to ensure that rights are not neglected, that justice is upheld and that no excessive or discriminatory measures are taken,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, police arrested 155 GISB supporters, including 78 men and 77 women, in the fourth phase of Operation Global (Op Global) in Peninsular Malaysia.

During the same operation, 186 victims were rescued, including 102 men and 85 women, including children, after a video showing a male GISB member beating people went viral on social media.

On Friday, the special meeting of the Perlis State Fatwa Committee declared that the beliefs and teachings of GISBH contain elements of heresy, especially regarding esoteric doctrines.

Perlis Mufti Datuk Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin stated that these teachings were a continuation of the Al-Arqam movement, which had previously been declared heretical.

Takiyuddin also said that PAS is closely monitoring ongoing investigations into GISB, including issues of deviant education and child exploitation, involving agencies such as the police, the Ministry of Health, the Islamic Development Department (Jakim), the Department of Welfare, the National Registration Department and state religious authorities. – September 22, 2024
