Kolkata Police have arrested three persons on suspicion of molesting schoolgirls at St Stephen’s School boarding facility in Haridevpur district.

Calcutta: Amid ongoing protests by doctors demanding justice for a 31-year-old female junior doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital on August 9, another disturbing incident has emerged. Several schoolgirls were allegedly molested at a hostel in the city. The minor girls were allegedly molested multiple times by a teacher and the husband of the hostel warden. The abuse came to light when the parents of the students visited them on Sunday. During the visit, the victims disclosed their ordeal, prompting the parents to immediately rush to the police station and file a complaint. The alleged assault took place at the hostel of St Stephen’s School, located in Kolkata’s Haridevpur area.

It all started after the caretaker’s marriage, which took place a few days ago. The caretaker’s husband used to visit the hostel regularly and stay overnight at her place, without permission from the hostel authorities, IndiaToday reported citing sources.

According to one of the students’ guards, “This is a clear violation of the rules in every girls’ house. No man is allowed to stay here overnight without the proper permission of the authorities.”

The guard’s husband first sexually abused an underage female student and then abused three other students in the dorm.

Following the parents’ complaint, police arrested a teacher from St. Stephen’s School, the principal and another person associated with the authority.

However, the main culprit, the husband of the guard, has fled and is on the run. The police are trying to catch the suspect.

Police told India Today TV that a private English teacher, identified as Biswanath Sil, was in league with another person, identified as Sovon Mondal, who also has links with the office, and allegedly engaged in sexual exploitation of his students.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, we immediately registered a case under Sections 10/17 of the Pocso Act and 74/54, 64/62 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).”

Police are investigating the case and questioning more people associated with the hostel authority. Further investigation is underway.

Kolkata Rape and Murder Case

A female junior doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. The autopsy report revealed that the girl was raped before the murder. The police arrested Sanjay Roy, the prime suspect in the case, who was the former principal of the medical college. The case has been transferred to the CBI and the investigation is underway.
