Socialite Don Nasser faces serious child trafficking charges

Nasser Nduhukire, better known in Kampala’s social circles as Don Nasser, appeared in a Buganda Road court on Monday, accused of aggravated child trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The charges against Don Nasser are severe. He is accused, along with his alleged accomplice Promise Gatete, of orchestrating the transportation and capture of a 16-year-old girl.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, the girl was taken from Tagore Apartments in Acacia Mall and held against her will for three days in the Kito-Kira area.

Both Don Nasser and Promise Gatete have vehemently denied the charges against them. Despite their denials, the court has sent both individuals back to Luzira prison.

They will remain in custody until they appear in the High Court, where their trial will begin. The stakes are exceptionally high, as the maximum penalty for the crime they are accused of is death.

Chief Justice Ronald Kayiizi, who presided over the hearing, has scheduled the next hearing for October 8, 2024. This hearing is intended to discuss the progress of the ongoing investigation into the allegations.
