Bhubaneswar (23/09/2024): In view of the recent Supreme Court judgment, the Odisha government will implement the verdict, which unequivocally states that viewing and downloading child pornography is a punishable offence.

This historic decision sends a strong signal that the state will not tolerate any form of sexual exploitation of children.

It emphasises the responsibility of every citizen to protect our children and ensure their safety and well-being.

The state firmly maintains that ignorance of the law will no longer serve as a defense for those who exploit or endanger minors. Under the law, engaging in child pornography, whether by viewing or downloading it, is a serious crime that must be fully prosecuted.

The State reaffirms its commitment to maintaining strict legal frameworks aimed at eliminating sexual exploitation of children in all its forms.

The state will enhance cooperation with law enforcement agencies to effectively combat the distribution and consumption of child pornography.

This involves setting up special task forces to investigate and prosecute such crimes.

In accordance with the Supreme Court’s recommendations, the state will invest in comprehensive support services for victims of child abuse, providing them with the care and resources they need to recover.

A zero tolerance policy towards the sexual exploitation of children.

Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity to authorities to protect vulnerable children in our communities.
