Police team attacked by land mafia in Araria district, arrow hits woman SI

Patna: A female sub-inspector Nusrat Parveen (26), posted at Mahalgaon police station, was seriously injured after a tribal attack. land mafia arrows fired at the police team in Araria district in the early hours of Monday, police said.
The tribal land mafia, led by one Vikas Murmu, attacked a police team with bows and arrows when Parveen along with a police team went to Pokharia village under Mahalgaon police station to resolve a land dispute in Jokihat police station area of ​​the district, police said. She was rushed to a hospital, where her condition is stable.
Police shortly afterwards arrested four people involved in the attack.
Parveen is a police officer from the 2018 batch.
Police reported that there was a land dispute between two parties over 18 acres of land. Around 200 people from one party had started barricading the land with bamboo. To resolve the issue, police arrived at the spot.
Araria Sadar SDPO, Ram Pukar Singh said, “Parveen has been admitted to a private hospital in Purnia. The arrow has been removed from her head after surgery. She is out of danger and will be under medical supervision in the hospital for two days. A large contingent of police force, along with magistrates, has been deployed in Pokharia village to maintain law and order.”
The SDPO said that the tribal land mafia gang, led by Murmu, is active in the area. They are forcibly taking land from villagers. “The disputed land belongs to the Yadav community, but the Murmu gang took possession of the land. They had built a temporary hut on the plot,” he said.
“The police received a tip-off from a local villager that tension was rising in the village as both parties – Yadav and Murmu gang – were laying claim to the land. The police team reached the spot but was attacked by the Murmu gang. Four members of the gang have been arrested, while Murmu managed to escape. More gang members involved in the attack have been identified and raids are on to nab Murmu and his other gang members,” the SDPO added.
