Rockingham County Sheriff Writes Open Letter to President Biden on Border Security

Following a recent “fact-finding mission” to the southern U.S. border with Mexico, Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page has written an open letter to President Joe Biden about security.

The letter states in part that “Our southern border is not secure and the Mexican drug cartels, specifically the Sinaloa Cartel, control all movement and logistics of drugs and human trafficking across our border. No illegal immigrant crosses the border without paying one of the Mexican drug cartels to enter the United States. All illegal drug shipments are also coordinated by these cartels.”

Page visited McAllen, Texas, last week and met with representatives from the U.S. Border Patrol, the Texas Dept. of Public Safety, local politicians and other sheriffs.

Sheriff Page calls on President Biden to “hold the Mexican government accountable for the transnational narco-terrorist drug cartels operating in Mexico under what appears to be the protection of their government.”

Page added that he has seen the direct impact of Fentanyl on families who have lost loved ones in our region, and it doesn’t just affect prisoners.
