Is Chicago going up in flames?

Venezuelan gangs in Springfield Ohio and Aurora Colorado are known, but this is the first I’m hearing about Chicago. I’d be willing to bet this is a lot more common than we know:

Venezuelan prison gangs become a problem in another US city

Quote:

According to the Post, Venezuelan criminal gangs have overrun shelters and taken over apartment buildings on Chicago’s South Side.

“If the black gangs here have had enough of the illegality and criminal activities of these migrants or non-citizens, the city of Chicago is going up in flames and the National Guard or the government can’t do anything about it when the bloodshed is in the streets. It’s going to be blacks versus immigrants,” Tyrone Muhammad, a former Chicago gangster who served 20 years in prison and now runs a violence prevention program, told the Post in an interview.

According to the New York Post:

Quote:

The latest figures show that Chicago has spent nearly half a billion dollars over the past two years on the more than 42,000 migrants who have arrived since 2022.

Many have received money for rent, food stamps, and even cars. In addition, some landlords have turned away local African Americans, hoping to get more government money to house immigrants.

Some belong to the former Venezuelan prison gang that has grown into a brutal multinational crime syndicate called Tren de Aragua, which Chicago sources told The Post are heavily armed, brutal and spread across areas of the South Side traditionally controlled by hundreds of established gangs, from the Gangster Disciples and Black P Stones to the Vice Lords, Latin Kings and Satan Disciples.
