Texas Governor Greg Abbott Offers $5,000 Reward for Information on Tren De Aragua Gang Members

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of members of the notorious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which is spreading terror in parts of the United States.

The Republican Party leader announced the reward Monday, but made it clear that Texas authorities are not giving up ground to the dangerous gang that has grown into a criminal syndicate by sneaking into the country with millions of other border crossers in recent years.

“Tren de Aragua has spread terror and carnage in every country they have been to, and Texas will not allow them to gain a foothold in our state,” Abbott said in a statement.

“Today I am announcing a reward for any information leading to the identification and arrest of known or suspected members of this gang who are or have been involved in heinous crimes.

“Texas will not allow these thugs to use our state as a base to terrorize our citizens.”

Tren de Aragua was said to smuggle weapons, drugs and women into all 50 states, including the Big Apple, Chicago and other less-crowded parts of the country.

A federal official called the gang “MS-13 on steroids” — a reference to the bloodthirsty Southern American street gang that has terrorized Long Island in recent years, according to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal.

Abbott’s announcement on Monday comes after he designated Tren de Aragua as a foreign terrorist organization as part of a statewide operation to target the gang and its criminal activities.

He said anyone with information about the gang members should call the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline or submit a tip online. Because the tips are anonymous, callers are given a tip number.

The governor’s office stressed that residents should not try to arrest suspected gang members on their own.

“With the public’s help, combined with the hard work of federal, state and local law enforcement, we will catch these dangerous gang members and put them behind bars for good,” Abbott said Monday.
